The conclusion of the Republican tax plan, "The Better Way", is to stay with an income tax despite the plan admitting that "consumption-based tax systems are widely regarded to be more pro-growth than income-based tax systems". It also says "income-based systems discourage savings and investment, which means slower capital accumulation, lower productivity, and therefore slower economic growth". "Substantial empirical evidence shows that moving more in the direction of consumption taxation would have significant economic benefits".
U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, U.S. Representative Lynn Jenkins, FairTax Chairman and President Steve Hayes, and Kansas State FairTax Director Earl Long lead a tax forum in Wichita, Kansas on 9-1-2015. View the video of the event.
A good message from Steve Hayes, AFFT Chairman, and Karen Walby, Phd and Director of Research for AFFT, have authored this message on why any form of taxation taxes consumption. All income taxes adversely affect your ability to consume products and services more than a consumption tax. This is, in part, due to how inefficient an income tax is and the amount of lost revenue from tax fraud.

Senator Jerry Moran is again the sponsor of the FairTax bill (S. 18) in the Senate. Here is a short message from his January 10, 2017 news letter.
Championing Legislation to Reform the Federal Tax Code On Tuesday, I joined Senator David Perdue of Georgia to reintroduce the Fair Tax Act to overhaul and simplify the American tax system. The FairTax would replace our complicated and costly tax system with a flat national consumption tax and eventually shutter the Internal Revenue Service. The FairTax places all taxpayers on equal footing, protects Americans from government intrusion by the IRS, and would immediately boost economic growth by incentivizing savings and investment – all while collecting revenue levels similar to those of our current mess of a tax code. Tax reform is not an easy undertaking, but the economic need for a leaner and fairer tax code has never been greater. By eliminating every loophole, exemption, exception, credit and deduction, the FairTax removes the manipulation of taxpayers via the tax code. The FairTax Act deserves to be debated and given an up or down vote. This tax reform proposal would have a positive impact on millions of taxpayers, allowing Americans to be in charge of their lives and money. |

Abolish the IRS! If you're not convinced, you will be after you see the UNFAIR movie (see below) or this documentary in our video library (see "Learn More" page tab above for our video library). Check out the documents to learn more.

This compelling movie left everyone with an appreciation of how corrupt the IRS has become. The income tax system is easily corrupted and taken advantage of by politicians. Please contact your representatives in the US Congress and tell them you want to abolish the IRS and pass the FairTax.
